Today as part of #rvnawarenessmonth2022 we celebrate Beccy. Beccy joined the reception team initially back in 2015. She transitioned over to the nursing team and undertook her RVN training here at Rowan. She qualified in May 2020 and has been extremely busy building on her skills and qualifications since that time.
In her own time, Beccy completed training in laser therapy at the end of 2020. Laser therapy is used for many things including pain management, wound treatment and for helping with chronic skin conditions.
More recently, Beccy has been undertaking and almost completed a Veterinary Nursing Dermatology Scholarship through #Vetrus. The plan is for Beccy to continue her training so that she can learn as much as she can about dermatology. With this, alongside in-house training with Laura, Beccy will take over the majority of Laura’s dermatology patients whilst Laura is on maternity leave.
Beccy is thoroughly enjoying the training in the field of dermatology. The skills and knowledge she is developing since qualifying is really seeing benefits not only for our patients but for the practice as a whole. You can see Beccy here giving Nell her monthly allergy vaccination. Nell is allergic to many plants and pollens found naturally in the environment. The treatment is designed to build up her immunological tolerance which controls her symptoms. Her brother, Lenny, also has allergies so they come into the practice together to give each other support.
Our #rvns really do make a massive difference to the services we are able to offer. Their clinical knowledge and understanding alongside our excellent clinical standards, means our patients have a wealth of treatment options available to them.
Beccy also has pets of her own. Much of her free time is spent training her beautiful puppy Ivy or riding her horse on the beach or competing in dressage events. She enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors and baking.
