A big concern for many owners is the stress and anxiety both pets and owners experience as a result of fireworks.  During the recent 5th November celebrations, many owners struggled to help their pet cope and with New Year looming these concerns become a reality once again.  It’s not just indoor pets that experience it.  Small furries, such as rabbits and guinea pigs can be affected too so it’s important to consider them as part of your plan to help your pets during this time.

We have some great tips to share with you that can help your pets to cope. Click on the links for tips for dogs HERE, for cats HERE and for small furries HERE.

There are also lots of products available to help ease your pet’s stress, both traditional and complimentary.  Feliway for cats and Adaptil for dogs are devices which you can plug into a socket in your home, very much like an aroma diffuser plug.  This product releases pheromones which replicate those released by their mother when they were kittens and puppies.  These pheromones help to calm your pet if placed in the area where they feel safe, like their bed or den.  These products, along with the recommended tips, can go a long way to help your pet cope with stressful noises. This is not something that you can put in place and have it work overnight. These steps can take time so it’s good practice to start preparing now.
